Cincinnati Chili Recipe

  • onion, chopped
  • ground beef
  • garlic, minced
  • chili powder
  • allspice
  • ground cinnamon
  • ground cumin
  • red (cayenne) pepper
  • salt
  • unsweetened cocoa
  • canned crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • soy sauce
  • honey or sugar or splenda
  • 1 (16-ounce) package uncooked dried spaghetti pasta
  • Toppings (see below)
  1. In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, saute onion, ground beef, garlic, and chili powder until ground beef is slightly cooked. Add allspice, cinnamon, cumin, cayene pepper, salt, unsweetened cocoa or chocolate, tomato sauce, Soy sauce, and honey. Reduce heat to l w and simmer, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours. Remove from heat.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package directions and transfer to individual serving plates (small oval plates are traditional).
  3. Ladle chili over spaghetti and serve with toppings of your choice.
