  1. Grease an 8×8 pan
  2. Preheat the oven to 350F
  3. Melt and cool '1/4 cup butter'
  4. Stir in '1 cup brown sugar' and '1 egg'
  5. Mix in '3/4 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt'
  6. Last, mix in '1/2 - 1 tsp vanilla'
  7. Bake for 25 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm.

Notes

A Ritter family favorite. Vegetable oil can be substituted for butter to make this pareve. Vegetarian.
