Nursery School Naturalists

3 or 4 years old Fee: Children $825.00m (30 classes) Registration opens in JUNE.

This is a drop-off class where your children can explore the world of Habitat once a week, all season long. The class begins indoors with topic-related activities and an animal visitor. A circle and snack time will prepare us for our daily outdoor adventures.

This class is designed for children being home schooled and those whose kindergarten schedule allows them to attend. During the fall this class will go outside and experience the seasonal changes. *CHECK TIMES* - 2009-10 program ran 1:30pm-3:30pm.

What sound does a sheep make? How about a chicken? Which animals have tails? Which have four legs? Join us as we use song and stories to investigate the animals around the farm. Themes include: Baa Baa Black Sheep, Trot Trot to Drumlin, The Cows in the Corn, and the Chicken Dance and more! A farm fun hayride will be included as part of this class (weather permitting)! Here a Baa, there a Moo, everywhere a Neigh-neigh!

Are you a bookworm? Join us for tales of tails, discovering the world inside children’s books and outside in the fields and forests. We may meet a greedy groundhog, a wandering turtle, or a wide-awake owl. Have you met the Leaf Man, or visited with a silly scarecrow? Each week we will hear a story, meet the main characters and have a chance to explore outside and create our own tales (or tails).

Fall is a time of change as plants and animals are preparing for the cold weather ahead. Why are chipmunks so busy? What is happening to the leaves? Where did the flowers go? All of these questions and more will be answered as we explore the natural areas of the Drumlin Farm and meet some of the creatures that live in the forest, meadows, ponds, and even in your own backyard! Join us each week as we slow down to take notice of the wide wild world around us. This class will give you some ideas and tools to continue developing your child’s sense of wonder in your own neighborhood.
