- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- 1 onion, peeled and chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
- 1 green chili chopped
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 cups cooked chickpeas
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 sprig cilantro for garnish
- Heat a large skillet with oil. Add onions, garlic, ginger and jalapeno, and cook for 10 minutes or until onions soften. Add spices and cook until aromatic, about 2 minutes.
- Add chickpeas and ½ cup of water. Cover and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove cover and continue cooking until liquid is absorbed.
- Stir in tomatoes, and cook just until they lose their raw edge.
- Remove from heat and stir in cilantro. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
