• 1 lb. (3 to 4 medium) fresh tomatoes, coarsely chopped
• 1 Tbs. olive oil
• 3/4 tsp. each salt and sugar
• 1/2 tsp. ground pepper
• 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. balsamic vinegar
• 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil

Mix everything together, and serve.
