Unless they know you, you are likely to be greeted by rifles because their species are mostly enslaved except for this and two other groups who escaped and are in hiding. The subjugators have touch-based mind control which works on most species (definitely also on humans) - but not on Otocon. 

They are probably used to having better technology - they may be a useful source of ideas as to what else the station would benefit from?
